How to Train Your People the Right Way

Would you like to learn “the secret” to becoming a great trainer and getting your new people to take action and start doing the right things?  It took me years to understand this VERY powerful concept.  It has been one of the greatest insights I've ever had related to helping develop and work with new people.  If you apply what you learn in this training to your business I'm certain you will start to see better results.    

There is a big misconception when it comes to the training process and working with new people.  When I first got started in network marketing, I thought that the training process began when I finally was finally able to recruit somebody into my business.  When that new person signed their representative agreement was when I started to really focus on teaching them the things that they needed to do in order to be successful.  I spent years struggling to recruit people, only to have the ones I was able to sign up do absolutely nothing or completely fail.  

I eventually began to realize that my approach to training was completely wrong.  The insight that I gained as it related to training new people completely changed my business forever.  

I started to realize that the training process with a new person does not start with you signing them into the business.  It actually starts much earlier in the process.  I finally realized that the “training process” for new people starts the very first moment you open your mouth.  

From the very first interaction that you have with a new prospect, whether you or they realize it – you are teaching them how to do the business.  

Ask yourself is this, “Are you the reason that you are struggling with training your new people?”  If you aren't introducing your people to the business the same way that you are teaching them, you might be the problem.

It's a really hard thing to admit, but you might be one of the reasons why your people are failing.  People will do what they saw you do, not what you tell them to do.

If those two things are inconsistent then you are always going to be fighting an uphill battle with your new people.  If you aren't inviting them properly, using 3rd party resources and not making yourself the expert, then why be surprised when they do the same thing?

I remember I used to get angry at my people for not doing the things I was teaching them, not even realizing they were just duplicating my efforts.  More times than not, it wasn't that they weren't taking action, they were just doing the WRONG THINGS.  That I taught them!

The other major problem is that if you aren't approaching the recruiting process in the correct way by doing the things you are teaching, there's a good chance that you are chasing prospects away.  If you are making yourself “the expert”, not using 3rd party tools and trying to do everything on your own then here's an important thing to understand.

From the moment you open your mouth, the prospect is evaluating whether they see themselves doing what you are doing.  Most of the time they don't even realize that it's happening.  By making the process more difficult than it needs to be, that's the reason why prospects are saying no.


 

At the end of the day though, it's really pretty simple to reverse this process. When you begin to model the correct behaviors, and start to build your business the right way that begins to duplicate.  

When you bring your new people in using the right approach, leveraging 3rd party tools to demonstrate the simplicity of the process that makes the opportunity more attractive.  Prospects begin to think, “I can see myself doing this.”  As a result you begin to recruit more people.  

These new people are much more likely to do the right things and in turn start seeing better results.  It's like a positive snowball effect that all starts with YOU.
