Over my 10 year network marketing career I've been through it all. I was a complete failure for the first 5 years. It took me an entire year to recruit my first person and I PAID for them to sign up. I sucked at network marketing. I went to every meeting and training, I read every book and I “followed the system”. Nothing seemed to make a difference. I was working hard, had no free time to enjoy my life and was barely making any money. I ended up quitting my first company at the age of 32; dead broke, unemployed and living on my friends couch.

After that experience, I swore I would never get involved with a network marketing company ever again. Well, I was wrong… after 6 years working an unfulfilling job in medical sales, the entrepreneurial itch caught me again. I got back into the industry in 2011 and the 5 years since then have been DRAMATICALLY different. That next company that I joined, I built an organization of almost 100,000 customers, personally recruited over 300 people and created a six-figure residual income in less than two years. In total, i've earned almost a million dollars in my network marketing career.

Now you're probably asking… what changed? It's a good question. It's the reason why I started this blog and why I decided to write a book – to give you the answers.

Look, I realize that I don't know you, but here's what I know about you because you are reading this right now. You have greatness inside of you. There is something in you that says “I'm not mentally fit to work for someone else the rest of my life”. You have an uncommon desire to live your dreams and control your own destiny.

Most of you already know what you are supposed to be doing. The real question is:

Why aren't you doing what you already know?

If just “knowing” was enough to be successful then you'd already be a millionaire already by now. You see, becoming a top earner is so much more than just knowing what to do.

As Your Virtual Upline that's where I want to help you. I'm not going to pull any punches or sugar coat anything. I'm going to be brutally honest with you and tell you exactly why you're not where you want to be right now. Some of you may not like what I have to say. The truth hurts sometimes – but until you understand exactly why you are where you are; you'll never get to where you want to be.

Just incase you were wondering, here's the rest of my story…

After my first failed attempt at network marketing, I spent the next 8 years working in the medical sales profession. I had everything anyone could ever want in a job (six figure salary, company car, benefits), but I still wasn't happy. I've just always known that I didn't want to work for someone else for the rest of my life. I knew that being an employee was never going to provide for me the lifestyle I really wanted.

I wanted time freedom and the ability to determine how much I was worth based on how hard I was willing to work. No matter what job I've had, there was always someone or something else that controlled my paycheck and that drove me crazy. I was working hard but I wasn't getting paid anywhere near what I knew I was worth. The more money I made, the less free time I had to enjoy it. I was absolutely miserable.

Thankfully, my wake up call came in 2010. My company went through a major restructuring and laid off half of the sales force. Two separate times I had to wait by a phone to see if I was one of the lucky ones that survived the cut and got to keep my job. I was fortunate enough to survive but it made me realize something had to change. I just couldn't continue to live with all the stress and uncertainty anymore.

It was during that time that I took my second attempt at network marketing. I really didn't see any other options. I didn't have the money to start a traditional business and I knew that finding another “job” would just lead me down the same path. I didn't have very high expectations when I started but I figured what did I have to lose.

Much to my surprise, this time around things would be very different. I saw dramatically different results. What I didn't realize at the time was that all the adversity and failure I experienced before would serve as the foundation that I would build my success upon.

Within 2 years of getting started with the company, working completely part-time – I was able to personally recruit over 300 people, build an organization of almost 100,000 customers and create a six-figure residual income.

It sounds funny to say but it got to a point where my job actually got in the way of me making money.

At that point, I made the decision to “fire my boss” and pursue my dream of being a full-time entrepreneur. My third year with that network marketing company working full-time I made almost $250,000. I went from being a network marketing failure who couldn't recruit anyone for an entire year, to making over a half a million dollars with that company in 3 years. I became a top earner and a keynote speaker where I had the opportunity to train in front of thousands of people. Because of the success I had, I've also become a paid industry consultant. In total, I've earned close to a million dollars in my network marketing career.

When I'm not working hard building my business or developing my own personal brand; you can find me most of the time with my beautiful fiancé Shannon.

One of the greatest gifts network marketing has given me is the time freedom to be able to travel the world. Here are some of the places we've gone in just the last 3 years: Iceland, Italy, France, Mexico, Barbados, Curacao, Cabo. Before that, I had never even been out of the country. Shoot, my idea of a vacation was the Jersey shore. Yes, I did go through a Pauly D phase; and no you can't see any pictures.

I'm also incredibly proud to be a part of The Big Brothers And Big Sisters Of America. I've had the honor to mentor 3 amazing, young men who are all brothers. It's been one of the most rewarding things I've ever done. Finally, when I'm not traveling or volunteering, there's a good chance you can find me on the couch with Shannon watching reality TV, or pretty much anything on BRAVO. What can I say, she makes me do it. Ok, maybe not. Whatever…
